The academic year of IUCH has two semesters: spring semester starts in March and fall semester starts in September. Each semester includes 16weeks. Online classes for the ICUH opened on May 3, 2004 with three courses (International Childe Health, Health Promotion Planning, and Health informatics) free of charge. For 2007 fall semester, six course are offered for those who seek the information on the discipline of public health, education opportunities, research and a delivery of public health programs, including students, scholars, professionals, and policy-makers.
*New programs of ICUH (Tentative) For program improvement, ICUH management committee is working on the development of new programs. Reform version of the ICUH program will set up in early 2018. We are planning to open more than 20 high quality individual courses on ICUH. Our course materials come from public health experts and ICUH certification is recognized globally. Each course will provide video lectures from best global universities. The content will be redesigned with enriched materials.
The official language for all courses is English. However, the ICUH has provided the translation service into the languages of member countries of APACPH. For 2007 spring semester, two courses (Epidemiology, System Analysis & Design in Healthcare) are offered in Mongolian. In the future, it is envisaged that many course materials will be translated into other languages.
In 2006 fall semester, a problem based learning approach was adopted in three courses (Leadership in Crisis Communication in Disasters & Health Care, Comparative Health Law Seminar, and Introduction to Health Informatics). PBL elements are widely used to facilitate self-directed learning and critical thinking. PBL discussions in online interactive environment not only promote information and knowledge sharing but also provide networking opportunities. The PBL approach to these classes has garnered much positive response and interest. Present and future ICUH students should look forward to more classes inculcated with a PBL approach.
Those who are interested in taking course should sign-up through online registration at the ICUH website (http://icuh.yonsei.ac.kr). (You will receive your ID and password for online courses access.)
